What Tax Incentives Are Still Available for Hawaii Homeowners in 2026?
The federal residential solar tax credit ended for systems placed in service after December 31, 2025, but Hawaii's state solar tax credit is still active. According to Hawaii's Department of Taxation, the Renewable Energy Technologies Income Tax Credit allows homeowners to claim up to 35 percent of the total cost of a solar PV system, subject to cap amounts, currently capped at $5,000 for residential systems.
OceanHead Solar and Electric also offers homeowners a program through Midas Wealth: transfer your federal solar tax credit eligibility to a business structure, and receive a cash payment of approximately 25 percent of your system cost back at closing, instead of waiting to claim a credit on your taxes over time.
