Does Commercial Solar Still Qualify for a Federal Tax Credit in 2026?
Yes, and this is one of the most commonly misunderstood parts of solar right now. The federal residential solar tax credit ended for systems placed in service after December 31, 2025, but the commercial tax credit, Section 48E, is still active, worth 30 percent of your project cost.
To qualify under the credit's current timeline, your commercial solar system needs to be placed in service by December 31, 2027. Businesses that stack additional qualifying factors, like domestic-content equipment or being located in a designated energy community, may be eligible for a higher credit percentage.
